Incidence of moniliasis pod rot (Monilia roreri Cif. & Par.) and black pod rot (Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) Butl.) were evaluated on six cacao hybrids, 17 years old, planted at La Lola on the Atlantic zone, with high level of inoculum originated from farms abandoned due to the presence of moniliasis. Four treatments were applied: i) hand pollination, ii) 6 applications of chlorotalonil, applied every 15 days, iii) pod removal, iv) check. Fungicide applications reduced moniliasis incidence in the hand pollinated plots from 34.2 to 23.6 percent and yield increased from 817 to 1253 kg/ha of dry cacao. In the naturally pollinated plots, moniliasis was reduced from 45.7 to 29.5 percent, but there was not significant increase in yield (690 vs 704 kg/ha). Hybrids IMC-67 x UF-276 and UF-29 x CATONGO showed the lowest incidence of moniliasis and black pod, respectively
