Nutrition smart agriculture in Haiti Development of the Nutrition Smart Agriculture Country Profile in Haiti

Using NSmartAg practices and technologies, it is intended to address local nutrition issues, while increasing farm and / or agribusiness productivity and income. For the implementation of the project, a description of the agricultural and nutritional context and identification of nutritional problems in Haiti is carried out; an analysis of the adequacy of the nutrients consumed by the population; the identification of categories or groups of foods and products; and surveys of agribusinesses, according to agribusiness, service providers involved in food processing and handling represented in the different groups previously identified. Based on research, NSmartAg technologies and practices offer opportunities to improve the nutrition of the local population, increase productivity, agricultural and agro-industrial income, primary production, processing and agrifood distribution, with farmers and agribusiness. They are intended to be compatible with future public agricultural policies and programs, in addition to complementing agricultural research and development, as well as training for agricultural extension and advisory services.
