Indicators for sustainable aquaculture in Mediterranean and Black Sea countries: guide for the use of indicators to monitor sustainable development of aquaculture

This publication provides guidance for the use of indicators to monitor the sustainable development of aquaculture in Mediterranean and Black Sea countries. It mainly draws upon the outcomes of the activities carried out within the InDAM project on “Indicators for Sustainable Development of Aquaculture and Guidelines for their use in the Mediterranean”, funded by the European Commission Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), as well as the outputs of other projects and initiatives dealing with European/Mediterranean aquaculture sustainability. InDAM has been carried out in support to the Working Group on Sustainability in Aquaculture (WGSA) of the GFCM Committee on Aquaculture (CAQ). The publication was prepared by the GFCM Secretariat in close collaboration with coordinators and experts of the WGSA, the Working Group on Marketing on Aquaculture (WGMA), the Working Group on Site Selection and Carrying Capacity (WGSC), the Information System for the Promotion of Aquaculture (SIPAM), as well as other experts involved in projects and research activities on indicators for sustainable aquaculture and key stakeholders.
