Multiplication of Selenicereus megalanthus (yellow pitahaya) and Hylocereus polyrhizus (red dragon fruit) by somatic organogenesis view

Multiplication of both yellow and red pitahaya through somatic organogenesis were made from cotyledon leaves and fragments of cladodes from seedlings 20 days of development exposed to Murashige & Skoog (MS), supplemented with auxins (NAA) and cytokinins (Kinetina and BAP). In the M3 medium (BAP + Kinetin 2 mg/l) from four to 11 rooted shoots were obtained, with 4 cm, within a period of 30 days. Development of a higher number of buds was observed in red dragon fruit. Callus formation was observed in all media, with most in the media with high concentrations of ANA. Vitroplants under acclimation phase reached the 100% survival and showed differential responses to the substrate used.
