La identidad de Scheelea Insignis (Palmae)
Exploration of the type locality, and study of the type, confirm that Scheelea insignis (Mart.) Karsten is actually an acaulescent palm, and does not have the 15-18 m tall trunk described by Martius. Scheelea attaleoides Karsten is shown to be a synonym of S. insignis.
