Genetic variability of cassava grown by small farmers in the Caribbean Region of Colombia

Using molecular microsatellites analysis, the genetic diversity of 717 cassava genotypes from small formers in the Caribbean region of Colombia was assessed. Six genetically distinct groups was established, with a low Gst (0.18), indicating that the variability was not due to differences between groups but within each group. The genetic diversity was high (Ht: 0.61692).
