Aportes interdisciplinares en las investigaciones arqueológicas de la quebrada de La Cueva, provincia de Jujuy, Argentina

Abstract: The text evaluates how work with other sciences enriches archaeological research for the study of prehispanic and post-hispanic social processes. It starts with a specific case, the archaeo-historical reality of the La Cueva gorge, located in the northern sector of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy province, Argentina. In order to do that, the investigations carried out by Casanova, Basílico and our team are analyzed. This research deepens, through a historical and analytical revision, the inquiry of the archaeological and historical evidence together with biologists, paleontologists, geologists, paleoanthropologists, historians, etc. Said evidence is composed of malacological, paleontological, textile, ceramic, lithic, archeometalurgical, faunal and bioarchaeological remains, as well as written documents. From our perspective each analysis contributes differentially to the comprehension of some social processes: interaction, production, consumption and even processes related to the configuration of an identity and symbolic issues.
