ABSORPTION OF NUTRIENTS OF TWO RICE VARIETIES IN A ENTISOL SOIL UNDER RAINFED CONDITION IN TONOSÍ-PANAMÁ

With the objective of determining the extraction of macro and micro nutrients in two rice varieties according to phenological stage, in an Entisol soil under rainfed conditions, a study was conducted in Tonosí, province of Los Santos, Panama, located between 7º24'03" Latitude N and 80º24'36" longitude W at 14 masl, during the months of August to December in the agricultural cycles of 2015 and 2016. The varieties used were IDIAP FL 106-11 and the IDIAP FL 137-11; with plots of 100 m2 for each variety; broadcasting with a density of 130 kg seed.ha-1. Samplings were made every 15 days from the germination ensuring the coincidence with the important phenological stages of the crop; For each sampling, four replicates were made using a 0,25 m x 0,25 m frame. The extraction of nutrients was determined in the root, foliage and grains. A regression analysis was performed to determine the extraction of nutrients by crop stage. There was no significant difference in yield between the two varieties, whereas there was a significant difference in the extraction of nutrients between them. The IDIAP FL 106-11 variety extracts more P and Mg than IDIAP FL 137-11, which shows higher extraction of N, K, Ca, Mn, Zn and Cu and both had the same extraction in Fe. The variety IDIAP FL 137-11 is more demanding in nutrients to produce a ton of grain than the IDIAP FL 106-11 variety under rainfed conditions in Entisol soil.
