HERBICIDES ASSESSMENT IN THE CONTROL OF Sorghum sp. ON THE CORN CROP IN THE AZUERO REGION, PANAMA, 1996.

At the end of 1996 was carried out a trial in San Jose, Los Santos Province, localized at 7° 40.5' north and 80° 14.1' west. The objective was to find out the herbicides efficacy on the control of the weed Sorghum sp. All treatments were compared with the most common tester in the Region (atrazin + pendimentalin). The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Block with four replications. The experimental units size consisted in six rows of 5.5 m of length. The Dunnett's analysis showed all treatments were better than chemical tester for the variables grain yield, plants and ears by square meter. They found the clean tester didn't improve to the treatments with nicosulfuron, in the same variables. The best treatment in the sorguillo's control was which included the aspersion of glyfosate immediately after the planting more aplication of nicosulfuron 15 days after the sow. In this treatment, the control observed was 2.5% with the top of surface cover by the weed.
