FRESH PRESERVED OVINE´S SEMEN IN DILUENT WITH BOVINE SERUM ALBUMIN

The development of new diluents that guarantee to increase the volume of the ejaculate and protect the sperm during cooling is a goal for specialists and researchers dedicated  to the study of this subject. With the objective of evaluating the diluent Tris-glucose-citric acid-BSA (bovine serum albumin) in the conservation of fresh semen, the present work was performed in the ovine unit of the Experimental Station of Gualaca. For this, 16 ejaculates of ovine stallions from different racial groups were evaluated, the semen was extracted with an artificial vagina. Once the sample was obtained, we proceeded to its assessment considering; volume (VOL), turbidity (TUR), motility (MOT), vigor (VIG), total spermatic concentration (CET), viable spermatic concentration (CEV). After the evaluation, it was extended using tris-glucose-citric acid-bsa. The initial values were MOT 92,5% (± 4,47), CET2594,7 (±1396,7), CEV994,0 (±755,8), livesperm: 66,73 (±2,0) and the primary and secondary pathologies less than 15%, which determined that they were suitable for dilution. Once aliquots of 1.0 cc were prepared and kept refrigerated at 4° C. Viability tests were conducted at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours, before which they were incubated in a water bath at 37,5° C and evaluated within 30 minutes and 2 h for each period. The results indicate the possibility of maintaining the viability of fresh semen for up to 96 h with the capacity to produce a viable gestation.
