NUTRIENT ABSORPTION OF INDUSTRIAL TOMATO IDIAP-T7 IN SOIL SAMPLES OF THE AZUERO REGION IN PANAMA

Whit the aim of determine the dynamics of nutrient absorption in industrial tomato crop IDIAP-T7 using soil samples with three different clay levels of the Azuero region, a trial was carried out with soil samples of three localities with a tomato history. The experiment was done with three treatments and four repetitions. A total of 288 pots were filled with soil samples (96 per each clay level). Tomato planting was at 21 days after germination. The fertilization plan was that recommended to the producer. Tissue sampling was done at each important phenological stage (vegetative development, flowering, production and maturation). As results the experiment had the following achievements: The dry matter production, yield crop, nutrients absorption at each phenological stage, the absorption curves for each nutrient, the equations for analysis, and the coefficients of determination for each curve of absorption; 70% for Fe in soil with low clay content up to 95% for Mn in soil with high clay content. The relative extraction of nutrients and their order of importance was established for variety and each soil with different clay level.
