Design of a methodology for risk management and business continuity in agri-food production.

The article covers the process of developing a tool for risk management and business continuity so that food processing companies can make decisions proactively in the face of the uncertainty that the context of the organization brings. In the first stage, the research was based on a study of the context of Costa Rican agri-food organizations from 2010 to the first trimester of 2020, futhermore the scenarios that could generate risks through the investigation of studies, articles, and final graduation papers on the subject. Then, a tool was designed to manage risks and business continuity strategies that was aligned with international standards ISO 31000: 2018 Risk Management and ISO 22301 Business continuity management, the above based on recognized management tools by processes. In general terms, it was determined that aspects such as international policies, climate change and disasters generate great variability in the supply of raw materials for the sector. In addition, considering these aspects, it was possible to develop a synthetic tool to address risks and business continuity management.  In general terms, it was determined that aspects such as international policies, climate change and disasters generate great variability in the supply of raw materials for the sector.
