Advances in Biotechnology for oil palm Crop : Main Topics in Pipoc 2009
Biotechnology is a tool of enormous importance for the development of crop´s competitiveness and sustainability. In oil palm, one of the most relevant events in biotechnology has been the "PIPOC 2009 International Palm Oil Congress: Palm Oil - Balancing Ecologics with Economics", which was carried out in Kuala Lumpur from 9 to 11 of November. Due to the importance of the subject for the development of the crop and with the aim of contributing to keep up to date the Colombian oil palm sector, here it is presented a review that includes the advances in biotechnology presented there and some considerations that could be useful for the development of the oil palm sector.
