Quality parameters of palm oil biodiesel, diesel-biodiesel blends and their impact on the performance of diesel engines

The quest for alternative fuels to petroleum has led to the development of fuels from various sources, including renewable raw materials such as fats and oils. There are fuels that can be derived from triacylglycerols containing raw material. One of them is biodiesel, defined as blends of mono-alkyl esters of vegetable oils or animal fats. This article discusses general aspects of the use of palm oil biodiesel in diesel engines, the current regulations and the factors that affect the quality of biodiesel.
