Progress in the implementation of the Mar del Plata action plan (MPAP) in Africa and strategies for the 1990s
Since 1977, efforts have been made to implement this Action Plan at the national and regional levels in Africa with the support of the international community. Subsequently various reports were prepared by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to apprise governments on progress and problems encountered in the implementation process. The report has three parts. Part I is the introduction, part II contains appraisal of activity areas and related issues of concern. This part provides the regional picture regarding the current state of development, the problems encountered and the outlook for the future. In part III is the strategy and action proposals for the 1990s are outlined. The secretariat invites review of and comments on this document by the meeting and will appreciate guidelines for future actions in this regard.
