Use of basic salts of iron and zinc as plant amendments in soils

In a greenhouse experiment, the effects of adding zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) as either their basic salts or as commercial chelates were compared for the production of lettuce. The basic salts were found to be as effective as the chelates in providing Zn and Fe as well as being more environmentally safe.
