A comparative study of the ion composition of precipitation in two industrialized cities in Cantabria (Spain)
In order to carry out a comparative study on the concentrations of the ions SO42-, NO3-, Cl-, NH4+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ in two cities in Cantabria (Santander and Torrelavega), precipitation was collected in both areas over the period of a year. An influence of both local pollution and of mid- and long-range transport by air masses from areas of greater industrial density was observed. Deposition of the ions SO42-, NO3- and Cl- are also shown to be comparable with those obtained for different places in Europe. © 1988.
