Diffusion of agro-ecological knowledges for the socioecological resilience in the state of Oaxaca (Mexico). Some political and epistemological dimensions of different knowledges integration
The model of technoscientific development shows limits, accused to participate of the degradation of the agro-biodiversity. In this context, the agroecology is presented as one of the strongest options to assure a sustainable and fair development, by mobilizing the ecological foundations of the small traditional agriculture. In South America, the agroecology is very often associated to the return of the food sovereignty and the preservation of a family farming (Altieri and Toledo, on 2011). It is based on a triple dimension: (i) technic (by the development of practices oriented on the valuation of the natural cycles and the ecology), (ii) ethic (respect for the alive and social justice) and (iii) politic (based on a critical analysis of industrial agricultural models). The skills and the traditional knowledges of the farmers are considered as the fertile substratum allowing to conceive new technologies that respect environment as well as the local practices, and increase the resilience of socio-ecosystems. The agroecology proposes and creates new forms of production and circulation of knowledges among a diversity of actors (farmers, scientists, agronomy technicians), but what are the conditions and the concrete forms of articulation of the various types of academic and not academic knowledges mobilized ? And what are the redefinitions operated by these articulations? This paper brings elements of answer from data collected in July and October 2011 during an agroecological project led by agronomists of the University of Chapingo, in the State of Oaxaca (Mexico). By the analysis of meetings between agronomists and farmers, interviews with agronomists and farmers (participants and no participants to the project), we discuss the way these exchanges mobilize, as much as they spread, knowledges, but also a set of representations, values, standards and theories. This paper contributes in the theme " Knowledge " of the conference exploring the creation and use of different kinds of knowledge in resilience thinking and practice, as well as epistemological and polical dimensions of the hybridization of several types of knowledge.
