Breeding strategies for resistance to the rusts of wheat

The International Workshop on Breeding Strategies for Resistance to the Rusts of Wheat was held al CIMMYT, Mexico June 29-Jul 1, 1987. It brought together an eminent panel of internationally recognized specialists who reviewed the current situation and defined a broad breeding strategy to incorporate the necessary level of resistance to control leaf, stem, and yellow rusts. Contributions deal with the following topics: the role of specific genes, diversity, and the use of polygenic, partial, and durable resistances; disease management through variety mixtures; and current approaches al CIMMYT in breeding wheat for rust resistance
