Mating behavior of the mahogany shootborer, Hypsipyla grandella (Zeller) (Lep.: Pyralidae)
Investigaciones de laboratorio con adultos de H grandella señalan que cada hembra produce 320 huevos en 3.6 días de oviposición. La hembra aparecida no absorbe la espermatofora del macho. Los machos del barrenador aparean una sola vez por noche pero pueden volver a aparear en la noche siguiente. Las hembras, por el otro lado, aparean una sola vez, después del vital dejan la posición de llamada.
