Features of development of invasive ctenophora Mnemiopsis leidyi (A. Agassiz, 1865) and Beroe ovata Mayer, 1912 in the north-eastern Black Sea

Long-term dynamics of the populations Mmemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata is presented. Two patterns of Beroe development, namely, usual and beginning earlier, have been revealed, they are related to the different character of the temperature regime of the sea. The development intensity of the spring and especially of the autumn Mnemiopsis populations is shown to be significantly affected by the start date of its predator development. The earlier appearance of Beroe in the plankton is a positive thing, because it limits the mass development of Mnemiopsis by a shorter period and significantly reduces its predation press on zooplankton.
