Analise multitemporal do uso da terra e suas interrelações com a cobertura vegetal em comunidades rurais do nordeste paraense.

The Bragantina Micro Region located in the northeast of the State of Pará is one of the oldest areas of colonization in Amazonia, thus the natural landscape found today is quite modified. With the aim of evaluating the changes which have occurred over time in this environment and the role of primary and secondary vegetation in land use, two sample areas of 12 km x 16 km were selected. To characterize the vegetation and land use, TM/Landsat images for 1985 and 1995 were used, with the support of field surveys. It was observed that the modules under study, are predominantly covered by secondary vegetation in various stages of succession, sometimes representing up to 63% of the total area. The incorporation of new areas for uses such as pastures tends to concentrate mainly in areas in the early stages of secondary succession. Pressure on the classes with a forest typology were less intense, taking into account that the areas of pasture and agriculture showed a certain tendency to remain under the same form of land use.
