Pseudomonas fluorescens Q2-87 genome sequencing

bacterial cells grown in pure culture. Pseudomonas fluorescens Q2-87 was isolated in 1987 from roots of wheat grown in an agricultural field near Quincy, Washington, USA (Pierson E., Weller D. 1994. Phytopathology 84:940-947). The strain colonizes the rhizosphere of wheat and barley and suppresses a plant disease called take-all of wheat, which is caused by the root-infecting fungus Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici (PMID:12147763).
