Water use and pollutant load reduction.
Steps taken by the fat products refinery of the Societe Astra Calve at Asnieres, France, for reducing the amount and environmental impact of the water used in its processing plants are described, including the strict monitoring of the effluents and the optimization of the processing operations. Results over a 4year period show a reduction of 50% in water use and a significant decrease in pollutant load.
