Consorciacao de castanha-do-Brasil com cafeeiro e milho na regiao norte de Mato Grosso

This work objects to obtain silvicultural information in order to determine the ideal stand of Brazil-nut (Bertholettia excelsa) in association with coffee and corn, assuring gain improvement for the farmers. The experiment was settled in Juina county, Mato Grosso State, Brazil, in 1990, on a Red-Yellow Latosol, sandy phase, in a casualised block experimental design, with 3 treatments (trees arrangement of 10,0 m X 10,0 m; 15,0 m X 10,0 m; 20,0 m X 10,0 m) and 4 replications, envolving association among Brazil-nut, coffee and corn. The preliminary results show that corn production was big enough to enfold the implantation costs of the chestnut culture, excluding the coffee production income. Until this date, as an average, differences in circunference at 20,0 cm from the soil, and in height, were not observed at the chestnut trees, under the different arrangements studied.
