Seasonal and diurnal periodicity of uredospores of coffee leaf rust Hemileia vastatrix :

The results obtained from a continuous air sampling study, using Burkard volumetric spore trap in the coffee plantation at Central Coffee Research Institute from July 1987 to December 1989 are describe. The seasonal and diurnal periodicity of uredospores of the coffee leaf rust fungus, Hemileia vastatrix along with the disease incidence in the field and meteorological data are presented. The seasonal periodicity curve showed that the uredospores were maximum in September and diurnal periodicity revealed that the uredospore concentration was maximum at 14.00 h. The period of maximum catches of uredospores coincided with the period of maximum disease incidence in the field
