Teste preliminar para o determinaçao do poder nematicida das tortas

The addition of 4 percent of any type of meal cake appeared highly phytotoxic to the plants after 35 days. The 2 percent rate was lightly phytotoxic only at the beginning of the experiment and the 1 percent rate was not phytotoxic. After 8 months plants were removed from the soil, measured, and the M. exigua infestation evaluated. All the meal cakes under the conditions of the experiment appeared highly effective in the control of nematodes. The 1 percent rate appeared highly promising. Soil collected from a coffee planting heavily infested with Meloidogyne exigua was amended with 1, 2, and 4 percent meal cakes by weight of soybean, cotton, peanut and castor bean. One portion of soil was maintained without any amendment, serving as the check. The different soil treatments and the check soil were placed in pots and planted with healthy coffee seedlings of an age referred to as "orelha de onça"
