Detalla las técnicas para el combate de malezas en el cultivo del café, indicando la estrategia de su control; combate de malezas en un cafetal establecido, control manual, cultivo intercalado y coberturas y control químico (tratamiento postemergentes y preemergentes). También presenta las principales plagas y enfermedades del cafeto, en las cuales se describen el nombre científico, las características, los daños, los síntomas, el combate y algunas láminas para identificación. Las plagas descritas son: Phyllophaga spp., Neorhizoecus coffeae, Dysmicoccus brevipes, Planococcus citri, Hypothenemus hampei, Araecerus fasciculatus, Toxoptera aurantii, Leucoptera coffeella, Coccus viridis, Olygonynchus yothersi, Cleistolochus similis, Idiarthron atrispinum, Plagiohammus maculosos, Pratylenchus spp y Meloidogyne spp. Las principales enfermedades descritas son las siguientes: Mal del talluelo, Cercospora coffeicola, Ojo de gallo, roya del cafeto, Phoma costarricensis, Corticium salmonicolor, Mal de hilachas, Ceratocystis fimbriata y Rosellinia spp
