Estudos sobre a alimentacao mineral do cafeeiro, 2: Extracao de macro e micronutrientes, na colheita, pelas variedades `Bourbon Amarelo', `Caturra Amarelo' e `Mundo Novo'

Macro and micronutrients were determined in pulp and beans of three commercial varieties of Coffea arabica L., namely `Bourbon Amarelo', `Caturra Amarelo' and `Mundo Novo'. Samples were collected in the three most important coffee soils of Brazil, that is, "terra roxa legítima", a red soil derived from basalt, "massapésalmourao", whose parent material is gneiss, and "arenito de Baurú" which was formed from sandstone. Statistical analysis of data have shown no significant differences in the composition of the varieties. Type of soil, however had some effect in the composition of the coffee fruits as far as N, K, Fe, and Mo are concerned. Out of the total of elements contained in the whole berries, the following proportions are exported as clean coffee: N-2/3; P and K-1/2; Ca, Mg, and S-1/3; B. Fe, Mn and Mo-1/2; Cu 2/3; Zn 1/4. It is clear therefore that a substantial amount of the elements absorbed remain in the pulp or in the dry hulls which result from processing. From this fact raises the interest of using these residues as fertilizers
