Some aspects of coffee physiology in Cuba

This research study deals with the results achieved on coffee physiology at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences. The influence of light, nutrition, water regime and plant density on plan growth, metabolism and yield was studied, either in coffee seedlings or trees. The aspects tested are: - Growth dynamics in seedlings from different plant densities under light conditions, therefore, different mathematical functions were used to select the best fit, besides calculating the behaviour of different growth functions. - Transpiration rate at different seedling age and time, related to soil moisture as well as at different plant densities. - Evapotranspiration within nursing period. - Pigment contend and photosinthetic capacity, main photosynthetic products and leaf distribution of phosphorus under several conditions of light, fertilization and physiological stage
