Fruit flies in the principal host-fruits in the Huanuco Valley

Fruits of guava, orange, cherimoya (Annona cherimolia), pacae (Inga feuillei) and coffee were collected through-out the year in the Huanuco Valley, Peru, to determine the species and abundance of the fruit-flies attacking them. The most abundant species was Anastrepha fraterculus (Wied.), which was found with Ceratitis capitata (Wied.) on guava, orange and cherimoya. A. distincta Greene was found only in pacas, in association with C. capitata. Only C. capitata was found on coffee. All three fruit-flies were most abundant during the rainy season (October to March). Parasitism by Opius sp. was insignificant, not exceeding and average of 2.3
