The remote sensing applications programme of the Brasilian Institute of Coffee

This paper was prepared for the United Nations Panel Meeting on the Establishment and Implementation of Research Programmes in Remote Sensing held at the Institute of Spacial Research, Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brasil. This paper outlines the experience of the Brasilian Institute of Coffee's Service of Photointerpretation in remote sensing and summarises the Institute's evaluation of this experience. The programme for remote sensing activity by the IBC for 1972-1973 is described and justified in terms of the Institute's past experience and present fields of responsibility. This programme will include a radar scatterometer experiment as well as a full systems engineering project for the development of an aerborne television system adapted to automatic imagery analysis. This programme has the financial support of the International Coffee Organisation and the technical support of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations
