Metabolism of glycine in coffee seedlings

The metabolism of [2 exponent 14c]-Glycine was followed in the cotyledons, cotyledonaries leaves, developed leaves and in the axis of coffee seedlings in three different stages of development under dark conditions. The radiocarbon had a large and distinct pattern of distribution among the metabolites of the alcohol-soluble and insoluble fraction and was recovered as respired exponent 14CO2. Glycine was converted mainly to aspartic and glutamic acids and asparagine. The interconversion glycine-serine is discusse.
