Levantamento semidetalhado dos solos do município de Itapé, Bahia

The municipality of Itapé is located in the southeast region of Bahia between the meridians 14° 30' and 15° 00' and the parallels 39° 00' and 40° 00'. It has a surface area of 441.95 km{ostrok} in which, aproximatelly, 56.4 are used in animal husbandry. In whole areas it was performed a pedology study using vertical panchromatic aerial photographs, scale 1:108,00, tanken in 1974, and a municipal map. The mapping was executed by the photointerpretation technique with four modal profiles and extra sampling as field controls. Geological and climatic characteristics, actual uso, and vegetation were also considered. This survey gives continuity to the soils mapping project of the cacao region of Bahia and gives subsidies for the elaboration of fertilization programs, crop diversification, research in homogeous soils and to rural extension services. The study identified eight soil units: alluvial sandy (Tropofluvent), hydromorphycs (Tropaquept), submersed water (Umbriorthox), shallow Itabuna (Eutropept), modal Itabuna (Tropudult), CEPEC (Tropudalf), round hill (Tropudult) and Itamirim (Argiustoll). The soil have variable fertility, being apt for animal husbandry and crops such as cacau (Theobroma cacao L.), rubber (Hevea brasiliensis L.), coconut (Cocus nucifera L.), oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) and rice (Oryza sativa L.)
