Occurrence of the entomogenous fungus Metarhizium anisopliae var. anisopliae on Lawana conspersa, a pest of cocoa

During the wet months of November and December 1986, a rapid proliferation of Lawana conspersa was observed in a cocoa state in Selangor. This was followed by a sudden decline in population numbers. The epizootic was caused by a green, muscardine fungus which was identified by isolation, cultural, light and scanning electron microscopy studies to be Metarhizium anisopliae var. anisopliae.
