Avaliacao da fertilidade de solos cacaueiros na Amazonia

Green-house studies were conducted using cacao seedlings, to determine the fertility of representative soil series of cacao areas in the Amazon. The treatments were made up of complete fertilization (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, and B), control (without fertilisation) and the rest by eliminating one of the above elements. The results from the dry weight of seedlings showed that all the soil series were deficient in phosphorus. Soil series Xibiu (PVAm) also showed mangnesium deficiency. Soil series Manaus (LAarg), Depea (LAmed) and Juruena (LVA) were also deficient in potassium, magnesium and the seedlings expressed zinc deficiency. None of the soils tested responded to nitrogen sulphur and boron.
