Producao de basidiósporos de Corticium salmonicolor in vitro

This is the first report of in vitro basidiospore production of Corticium salmonicolor, the causal agent of cacao pink disease. Though basidiospores are probably the principal means by which the pathogen is disseminated - since they are abundantly formed in the field - up to now their production in vitro had not been obtained. Of several culture media tested, including natural substrates, basidiospores were induced only on yeast extract-dextrose-agar and potato-dextrose-agar in Petri dishes, covered with 90 g of an alluvial soil (pH adjusted to 8.0) added after mycelial colonization of the medium. Hymenium and basidiospore formation began 8 days after adding soil and 3 days after opening the dishes under natural illumination, and continued for 30 consecutive days until the medium was completely dry
