Experiments carried out in the cacao region of Bahia to study the epidemiology of Black Pod (P. palmivora) have shown that the critical period regarding attack is between May and September. Climatic factors showing good correlation with disease incidence were the vapor pressure deficit, number of rainy days and number of rainy hours.
