Mineralizacao do nitrogenio em solos cultivados com cacau na Bahia; 1: Solos Cepec modal, Itabuna modal e agua sumida

The influence of soil depth, fertilizer and duration of incubation on ammonification and nitrification in three different soils were studied in the laboratory by aerobic incubation. Samples were incubated for 7, 14, 21 and 28 days at constant temperature and humidity. The experiment of four repetitions was of random design in factorial arrangement. Concentrations of N-NH+4 and N-NO-3 were determined in all samples at the beginning of incubation. No differences was found in ammonification because of depth, however nitrification was notable in the top soil layer. Fertilized soils of Cepec and Agua sumida showed a significant increase in ammonification. The highest rate of ammonification occurred at the 7th and at the 28th day of incubation in all soils. For nitrification, the highest rate was at the 28th day. Soil depth clearly affected nitrification in all cases whereas fertilization showed no significant differences
