Ensaios de insecticidas no combate ao Monalonion bondari Costa Lima, praga do cacaueiro na Bahia

Among the mirids which attack cacao in the State of Bahia, Monalonion bondari Costa Lima is predominant. The most frequent and intensive attacks of this pest occur mainly in the western border of the cacao zone. Since 1954, BHC 1 per cent dust has been used against insect pests of cacao in the State of Bahia, but no formal trials were made to determine the efficiency of this insecticide. Results from various field trials made in three zones using BHC 1 per cent, Lindane 1,5 per cent, DDT 5 percent, Diazionon 1,5 per cent, Malathion 4 per cent and Sevin 5 per cent, are reported and compared. BHC 1 per cent, followed by Malathion 4 per cent and Lindane 1,5 per cent gave the highest degree of control of M. bondari
