Oryzaephilus mercator (Fauvel, 1889) (Coleoptera, Silvanidae) associado ao cacau e outros produtos armazenados na Bahia, Brasil

The merchant grain beetle, Oryzaephilus mercator (Fauvel, 1889) reported from the State of Bahia, Brazil, after comparative studies of both external and internal morphology between this species and O. surinamensis (L.) O. mercator was found in Bahia associated with broken cacao beans, fruits of oil palm, and licuri palm kernel, stored in the Cacao Region, and in Salvador City. In Salvador, it was also found in cumin, sultanas, and dried fig, respectively imported from Singapore, Greece and Spain, besides Brazilian chocolate bars. It is emphasized the problem of fragments of this insect in cacao derivatives processed in Bahia, such as unsweetened chocolate, cake and cocoa powder
