Bosque dos Jequitibás (Campinas, SP): composicao florística e estrutura fitossociológica do estrato arbóreo

This leisure area (22°55'S, 47°03'W, 652 to 681 m altitude), about 10 ha, has a Koeppen's Cwag' climate or a Thornthwaite's B1rB'3C'2, a Typic Paleudult soil, and a semideciduous mesophyll forest. Its 5000 trees with diameter at breast height greater than or equal to 10 cm belong to 178 native and 72 introduced species of 113 genera and 44 families. In a 2334 ha natural area there were 1787 trees of 151 species, 99 genera and 42 families, with a Shannon & Weaver diversity of 3.71. Leguminosae showed the highest number of species. Meliaceae showed the highest abundance, with dominance of Trichilia clausseni with 29.6 percent of total trees and a cover value index of 45.4. Ocotea, Machaerium, Zanthoxylum and Eugenia showed the highest numbers of species. Trichilia, Machaerium, Centrolobium, and Zantoxylum showed the greastest numbers of trees. 25.2 percent (38) of total species showed only one tree in the area. 75 percent of total trees showed diameters between 10 and 30 cm. Many species are common to both atlantic and central forests, thus denoting a geographical position between the two phytogeographical provinces, the Atlantic and the Central.
