Provides latest data on the progress of the Commonwealth-Guyana Programme for Sustainable Tropical Forestry (now known as the Iwokrama Rain Forest Programme), the release of Global Environmental Facility funds, and the establishment of an interim Board of Trustees and Project Management Group. There will be a two-year interim phase before full operation in 1994. Discusses the nature of proposed collaboration with other institutions and the different types of membership of Iwokrama; open to scientific and forestry institutions, donor agencies, NGO's. A response is given to ideas which have come forward in the Oxford Conference, bearing in mind the provisional nature of initial planning until there is a Board of Trustees and definitive staff in place.
