Resistance of pineapple varieties D-10 and D-20 to field populations of oriental fruit flies and melon flies

When 3 pineapple varieties (D-10, D-20, and Smooth Cayenne) were exposed to field populations of melon flies, Dacus cucurbitae Coquillet, and oriental fruit flies, D. dorsalis Hendel, no larvae or pupae developed from them. Thus, none of the 3 varieties was any more susceptible than the others to infestation by either pest species
