Atrativos para Ceratitis capitata (Wied.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) em pomar de pessegos no Município de Caldas, MG

A field trial was carried out in Caldas-MG, Brazil to determine the attractiveness of Tephtlure (1 per cent), peach syrup (10 per cent) and Moscatex (hidrolized protein - 5 per cent) to fruit flies. These lures were tested in MacPhail modified traps kept in an orchard from September 1985 to September 1986, with assesments for the number of insects trapped each two days. Ceratitis capitata (Wied.) was the main species of tephritids, with frequency of 86,84 per cent. It was captured only during the fruits rippening period, in an average of 23,10 insects/trap/week. The highest number of adults was collected with Tephlure and the lowest with Moscatex, although both products showed a populational peak in January. Peach syrup did not detect the peak, but was the most efficient lure for small med fly populations, detecting early infestations. Thus this lure is recommended for scouting populations before starting control measures. It can be prepared in the farm, with fallen fruits that are responsible for rearing and increasing fruit fly infestations within the orchards. Another advantage of peach syrup is the increased control that would be obtained with the cultural method of collecting fallen fruits to prepare the lure, that could be easily adopted in small orchard, as in the region the test was set up.
