Venture capital for OECS and Barbados agribusines funded by USAID under the RIAMP project

The document presents that the Agriculture Venture Trust (AVT), is a non-profit organisation registered under the Charities Act of Barbados to take equity positions in new or expanding agri-business ventures in Barbados, the OECS and the British Virgin Islands. Funding for the Trust is provided entirely by USAID. The mission of the Trust is to use equity risk capital to develop successful agri-businesses which either earn foreign exchange themselves or reduce the net national usage of foreign exchange. Agriculture, agro-processing, agricultural infra-structure, agricultural marketing, mariculture, fishing and fish processing all qualify as subsectors in which the AVT may invest. Continuously: forms of investment; return on AVT investment; conditions of investment; how the trust will access project; and equity for new projects among other things. (MIBA)
