Antigua and Barbuda Significant Achievements 2023

IICA partnered with local beekeepers to expand apiculture production, introducing a queen rearing program for sustainability. The SPS Measures Project developed AHFS policies to strengthen regulatory environments in Antigua and Barbuda. UN Women collaborated with IICA to enhance gender-responsive services for women and youth farmers. Capacity building exercises and agro-processing tools were provided to support small businesses in the region. The Institute supported the establishment of a hydroponics system for lettuce production by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Farmers received assistance to re-establish Antigua Black Pineapple production using tissue culture materials. Barbuda GO established a mangrove nursery with misting systems for coastal restoration efforts in the country.
