Estimation of water use by vegetation barriers based on climatological factors and soil moisture levels

This paper presents results of a study conducted in Burkina Faso in which a method has been developed to assess water use by vegetation barriers based on easily measured variables. Various options are presented with increasing complexity and accuracy ranging from the use of a single climatological factor, a multi-climatological factor and a combination of climate and available soil moisture under the vegetation barrier
