New species of Inga (Mimosaceae) from Mesoamerica
Nine new species of Inga have been defined in Mesoamerica, as part of a study of Mimosaceae in Costa Rica. Botanical descriptions are given for each, indicating their taxonomic affinities and distribution. The species are all trees: I. callicarpa (up to 25 m tall, from Costa Rica), I. coprocarpa (9-20 m tall, from Costa Rica and Panama), I. filiformis (3-15 m tall, from Panama), I. golfodulcensis (up to 8 m tall, from Costa Rica), I. herrerae (up to 12 m tall, from Costa Rica), I. jimenezii (up to 10 m tall, from Costa Rica), I. leonis (6-25 m tall, from Costa Rica and Panama), I. litoralis (up to 8 m tall, from Costa Rica), and I. urceolata (4-25 m tall, from Panama).
