El alarmante deterioro del recurso forestal en Nicaragua incide directamente en el descenso del nivel de vida de la población rural. Esto se hace más notorio con respecto a la mujer, quien en estas comunidades, realiza labores de recolección de leña, alimentos y agua entre otras. El Programa Mujer y Desarrollo forestal, dedicado al estudio del papel que desempeña la mujer en los diferentes sectores forestales, presenta aquí, a través de las autoras, dos experiencias dirigidas a la integración de la mujer campesina en proyectos de recuperación y uso económico de los recursos naturales. The alarming deterioration of the forest resources in Nicaragua influencias directly the living standards in the countryside. The situation is worse in the case of women, who in these communities takes care of gathering firewood, water, fruits and medicinal plants, among others. the authors present two experiencies of the Women and Forestry Development Program, which focusses on the role of women in different forestry sectors.
